I absolutely love this program, but I’m having problems with it so I have to reinstall it. Within the first week of using this program I’ve already increased my korean vocabulary and knowledge by so much, being half korean, and I’ve really picked up the system really quick as well. I’ve known how to read and write Korean for pretty much all my life and learned at an early stage, but I’m still increasing my vocabulary and I’m planning on going to Seoul, Korea this year with my family to visit my mothers hometown and I feel this program will really help me blend in and speak with much more fluidity because of the feature where you can use the microphone to make sure you are speaking like the natives! Thanks so much for making such an awesome program!

Outside of the fact that I’m currently a student taking Japanese (it just so happens that, because I transferred, I missed a year of Japanese and have to now take it over the summer), this program is simply fantastic. One of the most effective ways of learning – flash cards – were made better electronically. The program infuses the user with the native style as much as possible, and it incorporates a “clean” style. It has its primary buttons out in the open, and it does not throw random extra buttons into the layout (in other words, effectively minimalistic). As far as the price goes for this particular program, you’d have to have a serious reason to buy the program (or desire to keep a constant connection with Japanese).

“My Word!”   (Or iPhone Apps)

I’m studying Italian. Why? Because I want to!  I travelled to Rome in both 2006 and 2007, and found Italy one of the most wonderful travel destination. (It joins the ranks in my mind of places like Vienna; Warsaw, Poland, the Rhine River, Hong Kong, and the Gulf Coast of Florida!) When I’m going to a place like that, I always want to be able to do some communicating in the local language. So, last year I started an informal Italian class and worked on the language on my own. That worked well, and I was able to get along remarkable well. (It helps that the Italians are pleased, when you try to speak their language, instead of insisting that they use your English. They are also very forgiving about your mistakes.)

Along comes the Declan Software application for the iPhone: “Italian Word of the Day.”  Great app!!!  It not only provides the daily word, for the enormous fee of $.99 but what is remarkable is the kind of Word of the Day that you receive. They are phrases that are designed to get you into a conversation mode with the language immediately. I mean phrases like:  “on the left,” “ on the floor,” “on the table,” “instead of”. They are conversation blocks, not just words.

Of course they also have a similar application for words in other languages.  That’s cool but right now it’s Italian that I want, and they’re coming through.  Look them over.

Arabic Language Software

I lived in the Middle East for 7 years and previously studied Arabic.  Having previously designed educational curricula, I recognize, and appreciate, the sophisticated design of your flashcards, they truly are incredible.  I only wish they had been available when I was living in Saudi Arabia.

Chinese Language Software

I just wanted to say how delighted I am with Wordfile Creator Pro which I purchased the other day.  I have just started working my way through Practical Chinese Reader Book 3, and have spent some time today creating a file of the vocab in Chapter 1. I can see that the creator of the wordlists has had a copy of Book 3 to work from too! This will be a tremendous help to me, as I am studying entirely on my own, and it’s just great to have the correct sounds, and the practice I will get by using the files with your Flashcards program!

Declan Software Customer Support

I have owned Declan Japanese software since at least 2004 and though I have never required technical assistance I have several times had to migrate the software to a new computer. Each time I have had to obtain new registration codes. Your response has always been amazingly fast and accurate. Previous messages to me from Declan have been from Eungyung (several years ago) and Ethan (last 2 years). You really do have the best customer support I have ever experienced, not one time but over a number of years.

I find your products much easier to use and many times more effective than the RosettaStone program that I just purchased.  I would not recommend RosettaStone to anyone, especially for a language like Korean.  So far, I have learned more Korean by using your “trial verson” of Flash cards, than with the entire RosettaStone program.
