Welcome Page The Welcome Page introduces ReadWrite Russian and includes instructions for getting started with using the software. The simplest way to use the program is to progress through the pages and letters by clicking the button on the bottom right hand side of the screen. |

Letters Page The Letters Page introduces each of the Russian cyrillic letters with a description of its pronunciation on the right hand side. The letter is displayed in both the standard and cursive scripts - this is important in Russian as the forms can look very different. The Writing Page also presents the letters in both forms. Examples of the use of the letters are provided in the Examples frame at the bottom of the page. Use the mouse to click the Next button to progress through the examples and to hear their pronunciation recordings.

Letter Navigation Menu The Letter Navigation Menu in the right-hand column of the main window allows users to proceed directly to any Russian cyrillic letter by a simple click of the mouse. |

Writing Page The Writing Page illustrates and describes the correct way to write the individual Russian letters and how the characters are combined into syllables and words. The letters are introduced in both the standard and cursive scripts. There are three Writing Page modes:

Reading Exercise After the Russian letters have been reviewed, a number exercises aid and test retention. The first exercise is the Reading Exercise where the user records their reading of a Russian letters or word and then the recording is played along side the native speaker audio. The comparison helps users to judge the accuracy of their pronunciation. |

Listening Exercise The Listening Exercise tests listening comprehension by playing a recording of a Russian letter or word and then requiring the user to type in the corresponding cyrillic letters. |

Multiple Choice Exercise The final exercise is the audio Multiple Choice Exercise where the audio recording of a Russian letter or word is played and the user selects the correct corresponding choice from a list of four. |
